David Axelrod

(1955 - )

A nativ from New York, he graduated from the University of Chicago. Axelrod served as its  the City Hall Bureau Chief. In 1981, he became political writer and columnist  for the Chicago Tribune for eight years. Leaving journalism, he mananged the compaign of U. S. Senetar Paul Simon in Illinois. Since then, he has worked für leading Democrats across the country, including Senator Hillary Clinton and Rahm Emanuel. In 1985 he formed the politcal consultancy company, "Axelrod & Association". He is senior partner of AKP & Message and Media. Axelrod has produced victories for the mayoral candidates in Chicago (Harald Washington), Houston (Lee Brown), Philadelphia (John Street), Cleveland (Michael White), Detroit (Dennis Archer) and Washington (Anthony Williams). He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Communication Studies at Northwestern University and has lectured on political media at Havard. He is active in charitable work in Chicago. In 1998 he found Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy.
